What Is a 3D Crystal Engraving?
For a 3D engraving, the submitted picture is prepared and a 3D model is generated from it. A laser then forms fine points inside the crystal to build the image. Those points create the contours and depth that make a face or figure appear three-dimensional when the block is viewed from different angles.

What Is a 2D Crystal Engraving?
A 2D crystal engraving still places the picture inside the block, but the image reads on a flatter plane instead of being modeled with the same depth. It keeps a crowded photo more legible when the chosen variant does not have enough room to give every person a full 3D treatment.
Two-dimensional does not mean that the source is printed on the surface or that the engraving uses color. The image is still rendered as clear-and-white points inside the crystal.

When Does Giftenova Use 2D Instead of 3D?
The deciding factor is the number of people or figures compared with the capacity of the selected shape and size. If the photo contains more than that option supports in 3D, it is prepared in 2D instead.

Does Low Resolution Cause a 2D Engraving?
No. The 2D fallback is based on how many people or figures must fit in the selected variant, not on a megapixel threshold. Photo quality is reviewed separately. If a submitted image needs work, it may be enhanced, or Giftenova may ask for an alternative picture.

Should You Choose a Larger Crystal for a Group?
A larger option may provide more room, but capacity is not something to infer from the size name alone. Check the current product image for the exact variant. If the group exceeds its stated capacity, either choose a current option that supports the group, select a tighter photo with fewer people, or accept the 2D preparation.

Is a 2D crystal engraving printed on the surface?
No. The image is still engraved as points inside the crystal. The difference is the depth treatment of the image, not its location.
Can I request 3D for any number of people?
The selected variant has a current people or figure capacity. If the photo exceeds it, the image is prepared in 2D. Check the product listing for the latest limit before choosing.
Will a blurry photo automatically become 2D?
No. Image quality and 2D fallback are separate decisions. Every uploaded photo is reviewed before production. If it needs work Giftenova may enhance it, or ask for an alternative picture.
Does 2D engraving reproduce the photo in color?
