What Photos Work Best for a 3D Crystal Photo?
By Giftenova Team – Last updated May 31, 2026
The best photos for a 3D crystal are high-resolution, well-lit images with clear faces and a clean, uncluttered background. Because the laser engraves your subject as fine points inside the glass, a sharp, simple source photo gives the most striking result.
A few things make the biggest difference. Resolution: upload the highest-quality file you have, ideally 2 MP or higher. Lighting: even, front-facing light keeps faces clear; dark or heavily shadowed shots lose detail. Background: plain or softly blurred backgrounds let the subject stand out, while busy scenes compete with the faces for engraving points.
Match the photo to the shape and size, too. Rectangular blocks suit most portraits and group shots; the heart shape favors portrait-oriented photos with the subjects centered so they sit inside the curve. Larger sizes hold more people at full detail, so a five-person family photo belongs on a Large or XL rather than a Small.
What to avoid: blurry or low-resolution images, very dark photos, and heavy filters, all of which reduce engraving clarity. If a photo is borderline, we review every upload and message you before engraving when the resolution, lighting, or composition needs adjusting, so nothing goes to the laser without a check.
