How it works
Three steps from photo to crayon-ready page.
Drop in your photo
Pick any JPG, PNG, or WebP straight from your camera roll or computer. The photo is read instantly in your browser and never uploaded.
Tune the lines
The line detail slider decides how much of the photo becomes outline; the darkness slider sets how boldly the lines print. Watch the preview update as you drag.
Download and print
Save the finished page as a PNG sized for printing on standard paper, and hand it over with the crayons.
Coloring pages from your own photos
Store-bought coloring books are full of strangers. A coloring page made from your own photo - the family dog, grandma's house, last summer's beach day - turns coloring time into something personal. Kids spot themselves in the lines immediately, and finished pages make sweet fridge art and grandparent mail.
The two sliders matter more than the photo you start with. Line detail decides how much of the scene survives as outline: high detail keeps textures like fur and foliage, low detail reduces the photo to its strongest shapes, which is easier for younger kids to color inside. Line darkness sets how boldly the outline prints - turn it up for crayons, down for a subtler pencil-sketch look.
If your family enjoys making things from photos, a custom photo puzzle is another hands-on activity built from a picture you love, and every other format is in our personalized photo products collection.
Frequently asked questions
- The tool converts your photo to grayscale, finds the edges where brightness changes - outlines of faces, buildings, pets - and redraws them as dark lines on a white page. The line detail slider controls how fine those edges are, and the line darkness slider controls how boldly they print.
- Photos with clear subjects and good contrast: a portrait against a plain wall, a pet on a light floor, a house, a favorite toy. Busy backgrounds turn into busy lines, so simpler scenes color better. If the page looks cluttered, lower the line detail slider to keep only the strongest outlines.
- Download it as a PNG and print it like any picture - it is sized for standard paper. Plain printer paper works fine for crayons and colored pencils; a heavier paper holds up better to markers.
- Only if you choose to. The photo is read and converted entirely inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded while you're tuning the lines. If you use Shop Now to order a product made from the result, that finished page is uploaded then, so we can print it.
- That is what this tool is best at. Kids love coloring people and places they recognize - themselves, grandparents, the family pet, their own house. Make a page per family member, or a batch from a vacation's photos for a rainy-day activity.
- Yes - this same tool doubles as a pencil sketch converter. Turn the line darkness down and the detail up, and the bold coloring-book outlines soften into finer, sketch-like lines that read as a hand-drawn pencil drawing rather than a page to color in. Download it as a print, or use it as-is.
