Step 1: Pick the Photo You Want on the Puzzle

Choose the photo the recipient will recognize and care about: a trip you took together, a wedding-day candid, a portrait of their pet, or a family group shot from a milestone event. The photo is the single biggest decision in the order, because it is printed across every piece and revealed as the recipient assembles it.

Four quick rules speed up the decision:

• One photo per puzzle. A standard custom jigsaw uses a single image. A multi-photo collage is a separate product format with its own workflow (covered in the FAQ).
• Use the highest-resolution version you have. The original from your camera roll prints sharper than a save from a messaging app or a social-media download. Phone photos are fine as long as they come straight from the camera roll.
• The subject should anchor on the recipient. A photo that includes the recipient or someone they love usually fits better than a generic landscape. A custom photo puzzle is a gift built around recognition, not aesthetics alone.
• Test the photo at puzzle scale. Zoom in on your phone until you see the photo at roughly print size. If faces look soft when you zoom in, the puzzle will print the same way.

Step 2: Pick the Piece Count

Choose from four piece counts: 99, 100 XL, 500, and 1000. The count sets how long the recipient spends assembling, how big the finished puzzle is, and how it ships:

Step 3: Crop the Photo and Upload It

Crop the original camera-roll version of your photo (JPG or PNG, up to 20 MB) before you upload it. The product page recommends a 5:7 photo ratio; that recommendation guides your upload and is not a promise of the exact finished proportions or of how the file will be trimmed, so check what a 5:7 shape would remove from your own photo. Three rules for the crop:

• Crop tight enough that the subject fills the frame. A wide shot where people sit in only the middle third prints with the subject small and a lot of empty background. Crop in until the subject fills most of the frame.
• Keep the important parts away from the edges. The crop line should not pass through a face, an arm, or anything the recipient should see whole. If no tight crop keeps everything in, keep the photo's own orientation and crop less tightly, or pick another frame from the same shoot; forcing a vertical photo into a horizontal shape, or the reverse, removes much more of the frame.
• Check your own crop; there is no live preview. Your photo is printed as uploaded. Uploaded photos are reviewed before production for quality, cropping and composition, and we contact you if something needs adjusting, so make sure the crop is right before you upload.

Step 4: Add a Dedication and Choose the Gift Box Setup

Add a short dedication in the Notes field on the product page. For the 100 XL, 500, and 1000 counts, the puzzle ships in a custom cardboard gift box with your photo printed on the lid, and the dedication prints alongside it, so the recipient sees the photo and your message before the box even opens. Short messages read best at gift-box scale:

• Anniversary or milestone. The dates plus the names: the year range of the marriage, or "On our 30th, from your kids."

Step 5: Check Out and Wait for the Puzzle to Arrive

Confirm the piece count, shipping address, and dedication text, then complete checkout. Frequently asked questions

Can I make my own puzzle from a phone photo?

Yes, if the photo is clear and has enough resolution after cropping. Upload the camera-roll original rather than a compressed copy. The 100 XL and 500-piece puzzles have the same finished dimensions; more pieces do not enlarge the photo. The product page recommends 4 megapixels or higher for the 500 and 1000 versions; because the 100 XL prints at the same size as the 500, the same file and crop give the same pixel density on both and the same guidance applies, while the small 3.5 by 5.1 inch 99-piece needs far fewer pixels. These are recommendations, not guarantees of sharpness; focus and the crop still matter.

What happens if I want to change my photo after checkout?

Orders move into production quickly. If you notice an issue immediately after checkout, use the contact option shown in your order confirmation; changes are not guaranteed once production starts. The strongest move is to check the photo and crop yourself before uploading, since there is no live preview of the finished puzzle.

Can I make my own puzzle as a surprise gift?

Yes.
